MORE than 12,000 readers have voted online in a bid to win Vanilla Gorilla for their favourite school.

The Herald Express is giving away the much-loved gorilla, which is worth more than £3,000, to a registered school or group in South Devon.

Readers have been busy collecting tokens printed in paper each week and passing them to their favourite school.

People can also vote online for free at www.heraldexpress.co.uk — and more than 12,000 people have already logged on and voted for their school.

Robyn Warwick, promotions executive at the Herald Express, said: "The response we have received so far is incredible.

"The way the online voting works is by giving each school a percentage of the overall votes. At present, a single school will need to achieve 100 votes to even go up a percentage.

"We will be taking the total online votes for each school and adding them to the collected coupons. Once these have been counted up, we will determine the scores on a student-to-coupon ratio basis."

Coupons should be handed to the schools, who will send them in to us.

The winner will be announced on April 3 — and we'll deliver Vanilla to the winning school on the same day.
