ACCONTANTS Bishop Fleming has reported another year of expansion. With offices in Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, Truro, and Worcester, Bishop Fleming has risen up the national league table of the UK's biggest firms from 40th to 38th.
The firm's fee income grew by more than three per cent to almost £17m in a year that included a high-profile move of its Plymouth office, the appointment of four new partners, becoming Britain's second largest supplier of accounting services to Academy schools, winning accolades for investment in clients and employees, and the national award for the best tax practice in a regional firm.
All 26 partners and 280 members of staff attended a conference at the Somerset County Cricket Club in Taunton to hear the firm's latest results and future plans. One of the highlight statistics was the firm's environmental achievement. Despite its expansion, the firm has exceeded its target to reduce gas, electricity, paper, and car-mileage by five per cent a year. Another highlight was that Bishop Fleming is now one of the 'Top 6 Social Media Accountancy Firms' with almost 3,000 Twittter followers, 2,000 LinkedIn followers, and 5,000 unique visitors each month to the website.
The conference also featured awards presentations to long-serving staff. Twelve received 15-year awards; four received 20-year awards; six received 25-year awards; two received 30-year awards, and one was awarded for 35 years' service.
