THREE dynamic artists, each with a distinct style, showcase a unique collection of new paintings upstairs in the Barn Gallery at Greenway, Galmpton until the end of November.
Cherry Lyons, Wendy Chudley and Jenni Pentecost have got together for the exhibition.
Their paintings, specially selected for Greenway 2013, showcase textured west country landscapes, evocative seas and skies in oils, watercolour and pastels, uniquely textural mixed media moorland scenes and contemporary watersides in collaged acrylics.
Wendy paints in layered colour and tone in watercolour, pastels, water-based oils and acrylics choosing which ever medium will capture the essence of that especially inspiring moment.
Working from sketches and photographs gathered on walks around the west country, she brings to life farm animals and atmospheric sea and landscapes. Her distinctive style is inspired by light and mood in nature's colours.
Cherry is an experimental mixed media artist favouring the dynamic but unpredictable nature of watercolour which provides the spontaneity to capture fleeting atmospheric moments in time. Pastels, oils, acrylics and printmaking are also significant media choices. Her paintings often feature organic inclusions to capture colour-drenched textures inspired by nature's rich tapestry, especially encounters with moors, sea, land and wildlife from her world-wide travels.
Jenni finds inspiration from nature and the coast and countryside where she lives.
Seeing potential images in dramatic shapes of wind-ravaged trees on coast or moors, textures in weathered rocks or stone walls and, together with colours of mood and atmosphere, her paintings reflect her love of nature.
