BESTSELLING children's book author Chris d'Lacey delighted Newton Abbot College students with an inspirational talk last week.

They were entertained with the stories about how Chris gets his ideas for books.

Chris also described the plots in the seven books which make up the Last Dragon Chronicles.

Following the talk, he signed books for the students.

"I feel children's authors have a responsibility to get out and meet their audience. I want to inspire young people to read, even if it isn't one of my books," Chris said at the school.

College librarian, Jo Slade, said: "The talk Chris gave was very funny so the students were on the edge of their seats wanting to hear the next part of the tale.

"During the lunch break, all remaining Chris d'Lacey library books have gone out on loan so I can see Chris has been successful in his aim to inspire student reading."
