DEVON Eco Energy scooped the Best New Business award. This was open to companies that have been trading for under two years and in that time have developed a successful and outward-looking business.

Judge Sheena Leaf said: "This company has been founded on years of thorough research and a modest start-up investment.

"In a new and growing marketplace, they have managed to sustain growth, make their business scalable and keep ahead of the game by diversifying and remaining flexible.

"They have demonstrated a phenomenal growth in sales through strategic partnering and for a company only 18 months old are worthy winners."

Devon Eco Energy's managing director Steve Frost said: "This award is fantastic for us.

"We have put in a lot of effort over the last 18 months supporting local tradesmen and businesses.

"It is a massive surprise to win and phenomenal for us as a business.

"We try extremely hard to exceed our customers' expectations and it is nice to be recognised."

The award was sponsored by First Great Western.
