A MAN was killed in the early hours on Friday morning when his car plunged into the lake at Slapton Ley.
The driver came off the A379 in Torcross and went into Slapton Ley, the largest natural lake in south-west England, at about 3am.
Police said the crash happened near the Start Bay Inn and the war memorial. The A379 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
It is understood the man died at the scene and his family are being told.
Divers will search the car and the water later.
Slapton Ley is a National Nature Reserve.
