ENJOY music made famous by the Big O at the Princess Theatre, Torquay, tonight. It features classic Roy Orbison hits from the 1960s right through to the late 1980s using both original and film footage from the era and backed by a live band.
Barry Steele will bring the life and character of Roy Orbison back to the centre stage with his trademark dark rimmed glasses, soaring vocals and Orbison style.
Add to the mix special star guests tributes to Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis and you've got a rock and roll show to remember. Barry Steele took his first steps on the road to becoming a professional singer when his wife Lynne and daughter Leonie entered him into a singing competition during a family holiday in Looe Bay.
Barry won the competition singing Angels by Robbie Williams. However a fellow competitor told him he sounded like Roy Orbison singing Robbie Williams. So with the help of his wife and family Roy Orbison and Friends was born. Barry quickly became totally immersed in the music and sheer magic that was Roy Orbison.
Barry has toured the UK, New Zealand and Denmark with Roy Orbison and Friends, and is pleased to be returning to Devon with his own show, as he has strong links with the area, with family living both in Cheriton Bishop and Exeter.
Barry will be joined by Marc J Robinson as Buddy Holly, Peter John Jackson as Johnny Cash and Boogie Williams as Jerry Lee Lewis, all backed by a band and multi-media screen.
