TORBAY is going to Birmingham to sell itself 'on a world stage'.

The English Riviera will be promoted to the world at this year's Best of Britain and Ireland trade event taking place on March 12 and 13 at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.

Mayor of Torbay, Gordon Oliver, said: "Following our success last year with the Invest in Torbay event at Westminster, where we raised the profile of Torbay as a business location on a national stage, we are looking to expand our supply chains to new markets by promoting Torbay's business offer in Birmingham.

"I look forward to the event to showcase the English Riviera Experience to the tourism trade and business markets."

Torbay's exhibit brings together a partnership of Torbay Council, Torbay Development Agency, the English Riviera Tourism Company and the Riviera International Conference Centre to promote the English Riviera at what is described as one of the world's largest leisure, travel and conference tourism events.

Experience English Riviera will be promoting what Torbay can offer to leisure tourism buyers, travel trade buyers and conference tourism buyers and business markets in the related supply chain.

TDA chief executive Steve Parrock said: "The TDA aims to promote Torbay as a business and tourism location to new markets.

"There is a wealth of quality visitor attractions, including the TDA operated Cockington Court, which we want to promote to the travel trade.

"Over 150 national and international buyers with influential purchasing power will be attending the show this year."

The show is focussed on helping exhibitors develop and expand their business. Some 3,000 visitors are expected and there are over 250 exhibitors.
