A CARAVAN was completely destroyed in a blaze at a Marldon holiday park.
Crews from Paignton and Torquay were called to the Marldon Tor Caravan site at 8.30am yesterday.
On arrival they found a caravan containing a propane cylinder and an awning well alight.
John May, site manager, said: "The caravan was unoccupied and thankfully the nearest occupant was 60 yards away, so no-one was in any danger."
A WOMAN has been assaulted as she walked with a six-year-old boy and dog in Torquay.
The woman received a blow to the eye and her cheek as she was kicked and punched by a man and a woman on Thursday.
Police describe the attack as a 'domestic incident'.
The attack happened opposite Topps Tiles between 3pm and 3.30pm.
A police spokesman said: "She was then punched, causing her visible injury and knocking her to the floor."
Man traps hand in machine
A MAN was taken to hospital yesterday after trapping his hand in a water sludging machine.
Two fire engines were called to an industrial unit in Pottery Road in Kingsteignton at 9.50am.
Firefighters released the man from machinery using small tools and he was taken to hospital.
DOZENS of properties in Newton Abbot and Kingsteignton were without water yesterday due to a burst main.
Exeter Road in Kingsteignton was closed while South West Water engineers worked on the problem.
A South West Water spokesman said:"Technicians have been on site since 7am working to repair the pipe."
Around 110 properties were affected and 97 residents alerted. The supply was due to be restored by 1pm.
POLICE, fire and council officials have boarded up an abandoned Torquay hotel.
The former Shedden Hall Hotel on Shedden Hill above the seafront has been empty for several years and thieves have been inside and stripped it bare, wrippping up floorboards to remove all copper piping.
A group of community safety officers went into the building to make sure it was empty before boarding it up.
DRUGS were stolen in a break-in at a Torquay pharmacy early on Tuesday.
A brick was thrown through the window of the Babbacombe Pharmacy in Reddenhill Road setting off the intruder alarm shortly before 7.30am.
