A WHACKY Water Day for all the family is being held at Shoalstone Pool in Brixham on Sunday, August 24.

The event, which runs from 1.30pm to 4pm, is being organised by Shoalstone Pool Ltd, the not-for-profit company that operates the seawater pool, in conjunction with Admiral Swimming Centre and the Friends of Shoalstone Pool.

Shoalstone Pool Ltd chairman Ray Gardner said: “This community event is to have fun and celebrate a successful summer season for the pool.

“This has been achieved with the enthusiastic support of local residents, visitors, tradespersons and businesses.

“There will be a barbecue, refreshments, face painting, donkey rides for children, a performance from a ukulele band and a pink hippopotamus.

“All monies generated by this event and from collection buckets left around the pool will go towards keeping the pool open. We have several more weeks left of summer opening and further funds will be required — and gratefully received.”

Brixham Swimming Club chairman Jeff Green said: “The Admiral Swimming Club will be running the swimming activities which have an oceanic theme.

“This is aimed at the under-14 age group and it is envisaged that local sports clubs, youth groups, male and female and families will be involved.

“To take part in the swimming activities or to find out more contact the Admiral Swimming Centre on 857151.”
