THE Herald Express South Devon Business Excellence Awards are being launched for 2013 next week.
Businesses from across the community are being invited to enter the prestigious awards being launched at a 1st Friday Breakfast meeting on December 7 at the Innovation Centre at South Devon College in Paignton.
Headline sponsors this year are Torbay Development Agency and Torbay Council. Pavey Group is announced as the first category sponsor.
Mayor Gordon Oliver, TDA chief executive Steve Parrock and Herald Express editor Jim Parker will be attending the breakfast event to explain how entering the awards can transform a business.
Mayor Oliver said: "Torbay Council is committed to generating economic prosperity in Torbay through investment and jobs. We are partnering the Herald Express South Devon Business Excellence Awards along with our economic development company, the TDA, to raise the aspirations and skills of local businesses that create more and better employment opportunities in the Bay.
"I am delighted to launch the sixth awards, which this year will be the launchpad for a new Skills Festival incorporating the South Devon Skills Awards. This reflects our commitment to raising standards of staff training to improve business success."
Steve Parrock said: "Torbay Development Agency aims to improve the local economy by attracting business to the Bay and helping existing businesses start up, develop and grow by providing the right kind of support programmes and raising skills in the local workforce.
"The launch of this year's awards is at our popular Friday networking event held three times a month at South West Innovation Centres and we are delighted that the mayor is opening the launch and welcoming the delegates, proving once again that Torbay Council and the TDA are leading the way to creating a landscape for business excellence in the Bay."
Herald Express editor Jim Parker said: "We are delighted to be leading, in partnership with Torbay Council and the TDA, the business awards. They have grown into becoming the highlight of the year for many businesses and individuals.
"There is so much enthusiasm and innovation out in the business community despite all the current challenges. These awards are a way of paying tribute to that."
Past winners have told how the awards are an opportunity to publicly celebrate business successes, raise awareness of and enhance the reputation of an organisation and attract new customers, suppliers and employees.
The awards evening will be on March 15, at the Riviera International Conference Centre in Torquay.
The launch morning starts at 8.30am with refreshments and networking and includes a talk from Jason Winser, from Interline, judged the Best Business of 2012. It will close at 10am. Attendance is £5.
