CABINET minister Theresa Villiers was in Torquay this week to see what a difference the South Devon link road will make to the area.
Villiers (pictured), who is Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, was Minister of State for Transport when funding for the bypass scheme was approved.
She met business representatives at Edginswell Business Park to hear feedback from businesses including Kitsons solicitors before visiting the Palace Hotel to see plans for the multi-million pound redevelopment of the complex.
She said it was important to focus on transport infrastructure improvements such as the road and future rail investment.
"Everyone knows how important that beautiful stretch of railway is at Dawlish but we need to work to make that stretch more resilient and look at alternative back up routes."
