THE Advantage Healthcare Group in Torquay is expanding.

The company, opened towards the end of 2011, has taken on Carly Chalk in the office – and is currently recruiting for more nursing staff, particularly those who are registered.

The office, based at Torquay's Lymington Road Innovation Centre, is managed by Joyce Cousins who has been awarded several new contracts over the last couple of months and says the business is expanding into further afield into new areas including North Devon.

"We currently have clients across Cornwall and South and East Devon and have recently taken on some more in Somerset and our first clients in North Devon. Another of our clients is Devon County Council's nursing homes and we've just taken on another contract looking after individuals with complex needs covering Paignton to Okehampton.

"We have clients who come down to the area on holiday, individuals in their own homes, hospitals and we also take people on holiday.

"We are expanding and increasingly taking on additional contracts, especially those with complex needs requiring registered nursing staff."

The company has two offices at the Innovation Centre, run by the Torbay Development Agency – one used as an administration office and one for staff training which Joyce says is invaluable.

"We use the room for interviews, meetings and training sessions. We have almost 60 staff and have very high standards so frequently run refresher courses. The offices at the Innovation Centre suit our needs perfectly," she said.

Torbay Mayor, Gordon Oliver, said: "Advantage Healthcare provides a very valuable service to the community. As part of my policy of maintaining existing and creating new jobs, I'm very pleased the company is taking such great advantage of the Innovation Centre in Torquay expand operations and providing more support and help to our residents.
