THREE charities in Paignton have received a cash boost in time for Christmas after public votes secured them a share of £1,000 from the town's Chelsea Building Society branch.
The team at the Chelsea branch on Hyde Road launched its Charity Choices initiative.
As a result of a public vote, South West Environmental Parks Ltd (Paignton Zoo) received £500; Children's Hospice South West received £300 and Devon Freewheelers received £200.
"We're absolutely delighted to be sharing £1,000 between three local charities in time for Christmas," said Yvette Goldsmith, manager of Chelsea's Paignton branch.
"The three charities we chose to support provide invaluable services to our local community and we felt it was important that the decision on the amount of money received by each was placed in the hands of local people. I'd like to thank everyone who voted and I'm sure these donations will make a real difference locally."
