THE South West Energy Centre has agreed a strategic partnership with NAPIT, one of the industry's largest training and membership scheme providers in the UK.

The partnership will open up the opportunity to access NAPIT Certification for installers who gain qualifications at the centre. NAPIT provides certification for installers of energy efficiency measures identified under Green Deal and the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.

Paddy McNevin, South West Energy Centre director, said: "This partnership is very important for the centre in its role as a regional hub for training and certification. It will provide people in the southern part of the region with a local training and accreditation venue which will enable businesses to build a skilled workforce in order to benefit from the opportunities in the fastest growing sector in the UK.

"The low carbon sector urgently requires qualified people to undertake measures to reduce the country's carbon footprint and reach the agreed targets."
