THE Green Willow Clog Dancers are inviting people to come and try traditional North West Clog Dancing.
The unique dance tradition originated in the industrial towns of north west England in the early 19th century.
Clogs were worn every day in the mills and for dancing too. The dances are performed mostly to original tunes played on melodeon, accordion, recorder and drum.
Green Willow Clog Dancers have been dancing around South Devon for more than 30 years.
During the winter the team gathers in Dartington and from May to the beginning of September performs at pubs, festivals, shows and tourist hot spots. Every year the team raises money for a local charity.
Clog dancing is a good way to keep fit, to socialise, make new friends and to discover new places and events.
Those wanting to try out the dancing should go to Dartingoton Village Hall between 8pm and 9pm any Thursday from tonight until the end of next month.
Musicians are also welcome.
