PAIGNTON will be hoping for better luck with the weather when they face Chard at Queens Park this Saturday.

For the Saxons had an unwanted day off last Saturday when their game away to Old Redcliffians was called off.

A waterlogged pitch was blamed for the postponement, although games not far away at Avonmouth, Clevedon, Thorbury, Cleve and Weston all went ahead as planned.

The postponement came too late to save Paignton's scheduled 2nd XV Merit Table game against Exmouth, which had already been called off due to team-raising problems.

Chard are something of an unknown quantity as far as Paignton are concerned.

The Somerset side are new to South West One this season following promotion and are pottering along just below halfway.

Result: Paignton Colts 3, Barnstaple 33.
