A TOTNES chef is celebrating after his two restaurants both received the thumbs up from Internet review site TripAdvisor.
Matt Buzzo, chef proprietor of the Waterside Bistro and the New Walk Restaurant and Café Bar, was delighted to receive TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award for both venues.
The accolade, which honours hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide.
Only the top-performing 10 per cent of businesses listed on TripAdvisor receive this prestigious award.
The Waterside Bistro celebrates in 10th anniversary next year and New Walk opened just two years ago.
Matt, the executive chef/owner at both restaurants, was brought up in the South Hams and returned to his roots nine years ago with French wife Delphine, to open his first restaurant in Totnes after a successful chef's career in London.
Matt said: "We're over the moon with the news! This is well deserved recognition for our teams at the Waterside Bistro and New Walk Restaurant and CaféBar.
"Our staff in the kitchens and front of house, work incredibly hard to prepare, cook and serve delicious tasting food and drink from an extensive menu and to deliver consistently good table service.
"The TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence is a tribute to them all.
"We aim to offer a familiar, friendly, warm and inviting atmosphere to all our customers.
"It's heartening to see that our two restaurants are recognised as the favourite places in Totnes to relax, dine and meet up with friends, whether as locals or visitors to the town."
