Collaton St Mary campaigners celebrate this afternoon's news

TORBAY planners have unanimously turned down a major housing scheme on the edge of Paignton.

Members of the planning committee rejected the housing scheme from Exeter-based Taylor Wimpey in on the green field 'car boot sale field' beside the main Paignton to Totnes road.

They followed the recommendations from their officers to reject the scheme as it would have a major impact on traffic on the already congested road, would be built on a flood plain and would be out of character with the beautiful rural landscape.

For comments and reactions from the parties involved see the Herald Express on Thursday.

Well done to the residents and friends of Collaton St Mary. Thanks to the speakers and the Councillors for their hard work and support in getting this application refused.
