A WOMAN and a child had to be helped from a car that crashed on the A38 near Ashburton on Sunday.
The Fire Service received a call from the Highways Agency reporting a road traffic collision at 2.30pm.
The accident had happened on the westbound carriageway towards Pear Tree junction.
One fire crew from Ashburton and one from Newton Abbot were sent.
Upon arrival, fire crews confirmed a single vehicle road traffic collision with two persons still inside the vehicle but not physically trapped.
Fire crews used hydraulic cutting gear to remove the door of the vehicle to assist one adult female and one child from the vehicle.
Fire crews made the vehicle safe and left the incident in the hands of police, ambulance and the Highways Agency.
There was heavy traffic and reports of delays at Ashburton Rockpark Cross while the vehicle was recovered.
