A LECTURER at Dartmouth's Royal Naval College has completed a 30-mile barefoot walk to raise money and awareness for a cause close to his heart.
Chris Lavers undertook the challenge of walking from Britannia Royal Naval College to Exeter, in stormy conditions, for the minority Christian community in Syria which has suffered in many ways over the last few years.
His efforts, which he described as a 'major physical endurance and stamina test', raised around £250 for international ministry Open Doors.
Dr Lavers said: "Open Doors has a history of working in Syria supporting the Christian community long before the present unrest, and now provides much-needed humanitarian aid during this prolonged period of bloodshed through its partners in Syria to the wider community as well.
"I would like to say a big thank you to all those who supported me in this endeavour."
