PAIGNTON'S Aaron Coombes could yet be called up by England U18s after playing for the South West.

Coombes, who is doing A-levels at Torquay Boys' Grammar School after previously studying at Paignton Community College, was selected at tight-head prop by the Division.

He played for the South West at Loughborough University last weekend in a festival against the North, Midlands and London.

The South West had mixed fortunes – winning twice, losing twice and drawing once – in a combination of 10 and 15-a-side matches.

Coombes has been told he didn't make it in to the 24-strong England squad for the international season ahead, but could be required as a non-travelling reserve.

"The list hasn't been circulated yet," said mum Nicola.

Coombes is currently captain of Paignton Colts, having rejoined his home-town club after a spell with Exeter Chiefs at U15 and U16 level.

He is hoping to study sports science at either Bath or Exeter universities after completing his A-levels.
