FORMER TV Dragon Doug Richard was in South Devon to give free advice for small businesses.

Doug, one of the original Dragons from BBC TV's Dragon's Den, said after the School for Startups sessions: "Entrepreneurs are everywhere, but the amount of support and help they have access to varies tremendously from region to region.

"I'm delighted to be in Torquay to offer anyone in the area who is starting up a new business the chance to access £1,000 of free, expert advice and training to get that business off the ground.

"All too often people stop before they even get started, and usually it's because of a curable problem you can teach them how to overcome.

"Our message is that if you have the desire and the drive to start a business, now is the time to do it because School for Startups can help.

"It's long been proven that people starting up a new business do much better if they access training to help them, and thanks to the City Deal funding School for Startups workshops across the south west, people can benefit from our workshops at no cost."
