FINNISH Member of Parliament Simo Rundgren has been brushing up his English skills during a week-long visit to the Devon School of English in Paignton.
As part of his course the school principal, Paul Hawthorne, arranged for a meeting with Torbay MP Adrian Sanders.
Mr Hawthorne said: "Adrian's office were very proactive in helping us convince Mr Rundgren to study with us, taking the trouble to write to him at the Parliament in Finland.
"He has been seeing the sights, including Greenway, Oldway Mansion and even the opening game of the season of Torquay United."
Mr Rundgren said: "I chose Paignton as my home village in Lapland is also famous as a tourist destination. I am really interested in history and I found Oldway fascinating. I really appreciated meeting Adrian. The school has organised everything perfectly for me."
Adrian Sanders said: "It was really good to meet Simo and compare notes about coalition governments. It also brings home how important our language school industry is in attracting professional people from all over the world to improve their English and take away a good impression of the Bay."
