THE Simmertones promise festive ska at what should be an epic gig at the Spinning Wheel tonight. The band will be playing songs from Something For The Weekend, named the Best Album of 2013 in the south west.
It has been a memorable year for the band.
The outfit have won over many new fans and followers by playing festivals both locally and further afield.
In May they released their new album, which received glowing accolades and radio airplay from BBC6Music and BBC Radio 2 DJs.
Band member Del Anning said: "The band are extremely proud of this work, helped by award-wining producer Richard 'Digby' Smith and the mastering skills of John Dent.
"It captures the spirit and feel of the exciting, enthralling, live sound which is authentic, powerful ska and reggae."
To top this, the album was named the best of 2013 at the recent South West Music Awards.
Del added: "To be nominated and shortlisted by fans, venues and fellow musicians was superb and then to collect the award is amazing.
"The south west has some marvellously talented acts, so this award means a great deal to the band."
Tonight's music starts from 8pm. Get there early.
MORE ska is on the bill when Glyn Wilcox takes his ever-popular Ska Au Go-Go DJ roadshow to the Green Room in Torquay tomorrow night.
