NEWTON Abbot MP Anne Marie Morris heard how the government could help local business on a fact-finding visit to the growing Kingsteignton-based AC Group.

The visit was part of a series of regular consultation meetings set up as part of her role as Conservative Small Business Ambassador for the South of England as well her all party parliamentary roles for entrepreneurship and micro business.

She spoke with group CEO Ben Cockcroft and operations director Simon Ablett and asked them what it took to grow a business during tough times.

The AC Group started as a micro business run from home and now employs more than 50 people and has a multi-million pound turnover.

Ben said: "I was delighted to share our story.

"We spoke honestly about the reality of the challenges we and other small businesses might be facing and what the government could do to help.

"We've had some fantastic growth but there have been a few hurdles along the way. To stay ahead we diversified, which is paying huge dividends now."
