A SOUTH Devon furniture store has just completed a £60,000 refurbishment as part of a major investment for 2014.

The installation of a brand new coffee bar with comfy sofas, fresh lighting and a complete decoration overhaul, is part of Fairway Furniture’s new look for its Kingsteignton branch.

Works were completed at the Newton Road store to tie in with the appointment of a new store manager, Andy Green.

Peter Harding, managing director of Fairway Furniture, which has four stores in Devon and Cornwall, said: “The aim of the refurbishment was to create a more relaxed and contemporary shopping experience for our customers. The new-look store makes it easier to shop with more space for people to move around.

“We have not done any significant work to the store during the past10 years. Half the store was built in the 1980s and really was designed for that era complete with substantial partition walls. We have removed large section of these to optimise space and create a more modern environment.

“We’ve had great feedback from our customers. This, combined with our new store manager Andy, and the addition of new faces to the sales and office teams, aims to breathe new life into the branch – which has the widest range of furniture, carpets and beds in the Newton Abbot and Torbay area.”

Andy said: “The whole of the interior has changed and been completely modernised. It is now open plan and a much fresher shopping experience. We’re delighted with how it looks.”

The store remained open during the works.
