WHEN Torquay resident Les Jennings (pictured) recently celebrated his 90th birthday, family and friends travelled from across the UK and from as far away as Cyprus to be with him for his special occasion.
More than 80 wellwishers joined the party at the Babbacombe Inn, with the Babbacombe Ukelele Strummers providing the entertainment.
Originally from Walsall in the West Midlands, Les is a keen snooker player and well-known in the Torquay area. Not only did he drive for Devon General and Stagecoach bus companies for many years, he's remained active in retirement… even delivering Herald Express newspapers in the Warberries back in the 1980s with his late wife Joan.
Les still serves on various committees and regularly volunteers at the Babbacombe Cliff Railway, where he is a director, and his sunny disposition and passion for life are an inspiration to all who know him.
