TAKE a leap of faith today at the annual St Marychurch parish fete.

This year the abseil down the church tower will raise funds for Help for Heroes as well as the parish church.

The Rev Dexter Bracey said: "This year the fete will be bigger than in previous years, with more stalls, more home-made produce, more games, and a grand raffle with a £1,000 cash prize. It promises to be a fun family day."

The fete starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm. All welcome.

CENTRAL Church in Torquay is holding a silent auction on Saturday, June 18, in a bid to raise money for the place of worship's coffers.

The bidding starts at 2pm and finishes two hours later.

Admission is 50p, payable on the door and refreshments will be available inside.

A CHARITY cruise down the river Dart will take place next month on Sunday, July 17.

Music will be provided by the popular six-piece band High society. The boat will leave Steamer Quay in Totnes at 7pm and return at 10pm.

Tickets cost £19, or £9 for under 16s, and include supper and a glass of wine or juice.

If a coach is required there are various pick-up points and tickets cost £5.

The profits will be shared between Shelterbox, the Samaritans, TOPS musical productions and Cockington Church. To book ring Pat Harding on 01803 323801.
