THE coroner is investigating the death of a 51-year-old Paignton man.
His body was discovered by a family member at a flat in Upper Manor Road last week.
Although he has not been officially identified by the authorities, the man was known to many shopkeepers in the Preston area as 'Dave' and he would often stand around and speak to people at the junction with Torquay Road.
One shopkeeper, who did not want to be named, said: "I always thought he was OK. He would come into the shop and talk and wasn't any bother.
"He was well known around here because he would speak to people in the street and sometimes dance around."
"My condolences are with his family."
Police were called to the property at 1.30pm on Wednesday, September 11. A spokesman confirmed they are not treating the death as suspicious.
A file has now been handed to the Torbay and South Devon coroner.
The coroner has yet to establish cause of death and is awaiting the results of drink and drug tests.
They are expected to take between four and six weeks.
The coroner will then decide whether to open an inquest into his death.
