INDEPENDENT financial advisor Mark Coombe, who specialises in retirement advice such as investments, tax and pension planning is expanding.
He set up his own business Haldon Financial in Paignton last year after working as financial advisor since 1997 for large organisations.
Now, in part due to new regulations for financial advisors, Mark is rapidly gaining clients. The increase in work has led to Mark taking on three admin staff and another adviser so he can spend more face to face time with his clients.
Mark, who is based at the Torbay Development Agency's Vantage Point Innovation Centre in Paignton, said: "Massive changes in financial services came into force on January 1. These included regulations enforcing higher qualifications for financial advisers and making commissions illegal. Instead, fixed fees are agreed in advance which removes the commission bias."
Mark has achieved Chartered status, which only ten per cent of advisors achieve, and he is also a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society.
He holds monthly financial surgeries with Age UK allowing elderly people the opportunity to have a free 30 minutes consultation.
He added: "It's also great being at the innovation centre. It offers me a professional office environment to work and somewhere accessible to hold client meetings at an affordable cost."
Torbay Mayor, Gordon Oliver, said: " I wish the company every success in helping its clients in the future."
