FLOWERS are appearing all over Cockington in tribute to horse and carriage driver Rick Passmore.
It has been announced that a memorial service to the man who many knew as 'Mr Cockington' will be held on Thursday (September 19) at 11am.
The service will be held in the village church, near the spot where Mr Passmore ran his Cockington Carriages business, taking locals and tourists on rides from Cockington Court around the picturesque village.
He died last week after a long battle with a progressive disease and his family has been inundated by messages of goodwill and memories of Rick. Now floral tributes have started to appear in Cockington at the places where his carriages picked up passengers.
Cockington Arts wrote on Twitter: "Rick Passmore will be missed. Flowers left everywhere at Cockington."
The Passmore family said: "We understand our legend of a Dad touched many lives and that a lot of you would like to be able to show your respect so there will be arrangements to follow asap for a church service for everyone, private family cremation followed by a wake that we would love everybody to come to.
"In the meantime we would like to thank everybody from the bottom of our hearts for all the kind words and prayers of support.
"We are all touched and proud of our Dad for making so many people happy. Instead of flowers we would appreciate any donation to be made to either Rowcroft Hospice or to Rick Passmore's Cockington Carriage Company to care for his horses."
