CHUDLEIGH Athletic FC have vigorously denied any wrongdoing after an allegation of racism during their clash against Abbotskerswell on Saturday.
A member of the Chudleigh Athletic management team was reportedly sent from the touchline after less than 15 minutes of their clash at Abbots Park in the South Devon Football League.
The incident has prompted a disciplinary investigation by Devon FA, which is likely to be focused on the report of referee Kevin Gidley.
However, Chudleigh Athletic chairman Roger Harvey claimed the allegations were entirely unfounded, and based on a misunderstanding.
"I don't want to make any comment until the outcome of the investigation is known," said Harvey.
"As far as we're concerned we haven't done anything wrong – we're going to wait until the disciplinary hearing, but whatever they do we will appeal against it.
"Somebody has heard something that hasn't been said.
"We're not going to say anything else until the result of the investigation.
"If we don't like the outcome of that then we're going to take it further.
"We're not going to take it lying down."
The South Devon League have released a statement, but said the onus was on Devon FA to investigate.
The statement said: "The SDFL take racism very seriously and we will back whatever action Devon FA take against the individual after the investigation has taken place."
