SOUTH Devon's big build-up to Christmas begins this weekend as Torquay puts some sparkle into the festivities.
Two finalists from rival peak time TV shows X Factor and The Voice will be in town on Saturday for the Christmas Sparkle event.
Adam Isaac, quarter-finalist in the BBC's The Voice UK, will be singing to shoppers followed by X Factor finalist Amelia Lily, whose recent debut single, You Bring Me Joy, entered the UK singles charts at number two.
Torbay Town Centres Company promises a full day of fun, starting at 11am with street entertainers in Torquay town centre and reaching a grand finale with fireworks at 6pm.
Torquay town centre manager for the town centres company, Rachael Weaver, said: "It's great to secure two such fantastic and current acts.
"The Christmas event is always so vibrant and busy, the town centre businesses benefit from the increased amount of visitors and everywhere is a hub of festive activity."

Newton Abbot also switches on for Christmas this Saturday, with Father Christmas himself throwing the switch at the Clock Tower at 5pm.
Entertainment and live music runs through the day in the town centre, with the big parade getting under way at 4.30pm.
There's a big week of music ahead at the Palace Theatre in Paignton, where The World's Greatest Michael Jackson Tribute Concert hits the stage tonight and Whole Lotta Led play the music of Led Zeppelin tomorrow.
Georgie Fame will be there in person on Tuesday night.
The Budapest Cafe Orchestra are at the Brixham Theatre tomorrow night.
Football fans will be beating a path to Plainmoor on Saturday afternoon as Torquay United entertain Southend United in an npower League Two fixture.
