A MESSAGE with a difference could bring peace of mind to carers across Torbay, health bosses claim.
The Lions Club has got together with Torbay and Southern Devon Health and Care NHS Trust to produce the 'Message in a Bottle' and 'Message in Your Wallet'.
The 'Message in a Bottle' is kept in the fridge by the person who needs medical care and contains personal details, medical guidance and who to contact in an emergency.
The 'Message in a Wallet' provides the same function, but is useful should there be a medical episode when the person is out and about.
It is one of a number of useful support aids available to carers.
The carers' information card is specifically designed for people who look after loved ones with disabilities.
It contains all the information which would be useful to paramedics and doctors in the event of an emergency.
Katy Heard, of Torbay and Southern Devon Health and Care NHS Trust, said a range of support was available to people all year round.
But she wants people to be particularly aware of those who need care during winter.
This could mean checking they have enough medication or making sure there is someone around to help in case of emergency.
