NEWTON Abbot-based road marking and repair business LMS Highways has won the Highways Magazine Excellence Award for the Product of the Year 2012.
The company's lorry mounted road crack repair system, trade-marked MMAX, cleans, resurfaces and dries affected sections of road in one pass, without putting any crew into a dangerous position next to the road.
MMAX can be easily dovetailed with other trades who are working on the highway at the same time, which cuts down the length of time the highway is closed.
Judges of the award, sponsored by Shell Bitumen, chose MMAX because it is 'an excellent solution to a long standing problem, providing financial and sustainable benefits'.
Operations director of LMS Highways, Paul Winter, said: "We collaborated with our stakeholders to provide a cost effective solution to their problem. It is nice to be recognised by the industry for our hard work."
The company is based on the Heathfield Industrial Estate and started out as a local family road marking business in the 1980s.
It has grown to a highways company that deals with road marking and repairs, operating throughout the United Kingdom.
