ROY Blunt, Firewatch group sales manager, has been appointed group operations manager.

Roy joined the Newton Abbot-based company in 2000 as a fire extinguisher technician and has steadily progressed through the business. In his position as group sales manager, he has been instrumental in the company's record year in 2013, taking group turnover to just short of £3million.

Roy will be responsible for managing the sales and operational duties of the company divisions under managing director Max Willey.

Group CEO Martin Smith said: "Roy has done exceptionally well over the last 14 years, responding to every challenge presented to him. This promotion enables the company to look at our management structure, and we have made changes to our alarm division with three internal promotions.

"Paul Robinson will become fire alarm manager, with Paul Booth being promoted to technical manager, Graham Wyatt will take over the role as senior engineer and QA.

"Given our growth into the Midlands we have re-organised our sales management with Simon Molloy being appointed area manager north. Mark Harris will take over as area manager south."

He added: "It is very pleasing to be able to promote from within, a fitting reward for employees who have given, in some cases, many years of service, as well as encouraging other employees that there are opportunities with Firewatch. We will also be taking on two trainees next month and looking to recruit for both our extinguisher and alarm divisions."

Mr Smith added: "We have also completed the relocation of our sign division and group stores into our main building in Brunel Road. This puts all our divisions under the one roof and enables us to promote Asigns with a new showroom to showcase the wide variety of bespoke products they can offer."
