SOUTH Devon cycle racer Jonathan Tiernan-Locke enjoyed a solid debut for Team Sky as he helped team-mate Ben Swift to a podium position at the Trofeo Palma in Mallorca.

Twenty-five-year-old sprinter Swift was thrust into the action as the circuit race reached its conclusion and finished third behind winner Kenny Dehaes (Lotto-Belisol) and Garmin-Sharp’s Tyler Farrar.

Last year’s Tour de France winner and Olympic champion Sir Bradley Wiggins plus Tiernan-Locke helped to form Swift’s lead-out train before finishing 161st and 163rd respectively.
