The allure of contemporary homes with sea views is stronger than ever in Devon with news that 12 quality new homes in a coastal development in Brixham have all been sold or reserved. Laurence Smith bought one of the three bedroom "Turnstone" style homes with his wife, Christine in November.

THE aptly named Seascape scheme is located on cliffs above St Mary's Bay, Brixham, within easy reach of the beach and a short walk from the ever popular South West Coast Path.

It was launched by Cavanna Homes last summer and, just eight months on, all the properties have been snapped-up.

Each of the detached and semi-detached properties is built on a reverse-level design to maximise the impact of the sea views.

Glass concertina doors lead from a first-floor living room onto a balcony with an outdoor staircase leading to the garden.

Laurence Smith bought one of the three bedroom "Turnstone" style homes in November.

He completed his purchase in just two weeks after first viewing the Seascape development with his wife, Christine.

The family were returning to Brixham from Doncaster having left the area in 1986.

Mr Smith, who designs bespoke navigational systems for ships, is delighted to be back in Devon.

"When I was looking for a place around Brixham, I was making my mind up between this house and an older property which needed a lot of work doing on it.

"The survey showed the older house had serious problems and we decided on this property because we loved the house and we loved the view," he says.

"We can watch the sun come up over the English Channel and it shines right through our window. It's also a very warm house with great insulation – we usually end up turning off the central heating."

As well as a first-floor living room with spectacular sea views, the semi-detached Turnstone has a kitchen/dining and en suite master bedroom on the same floor.

The other two bedrooms, a family bathroom and utility room are on the ground floor.

The other design on the development is the Sandpiper; a four-bedroom detached house with a kitchen/dining room, utility, two bedrooms and family bathroom on the ground floor, a spacious living room and a large en-suite master bedroom with sea views and another double bedroom on the first floor.

Lynn Worley from Cavanna Homes said: "We're not at all surprised that this coastal development has proved so successful.

"The clever designs have maximised the benefits of the wonderful sea views – something that house hunters clearly find hard to resist!"

Although all the Seascape plots have now been either sold or reserved, Cavanna Homes has asked any interested buyers to register their interest at seascape@cavannahomes.co.uk in the event that a property becomes available.

The company also has new homes for sale at King's Field, Kingskerswell and are preparing to open Fusion, a development of high quality, contemporary homes, just off Brixham Road on the edge of Paignton, at the end of February.
