SOUTH Devon law firm Wollen Michelmore has welcomed a new partner.
Former associate solicitor David Kendall joined the firm in December 2011, and now brings the number of partners at Wollen Michelmore to 13.
David was born and raised in Penzance. He almost joined Plymouth's Customs and Excise team, but instead decided on a trainee legal executive position, moving quickly from conveyancing into criminal and civil litigation and then family work.
He gained his Fellowship of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1996 and his Diploma in Law at Nottingham Trent University as a mature student in 2004.
David qualified as a solicitor in 2005 having already been promoted to head of the family department at the Plymouth firm where he had started work as a law trainee.
He is now part of the Law Society's specialist Children Panel, and represents a variety of clients including a number of children.
"I have joined Wollen Michelmore as a proud south-westerner who wanted to stay in the area and work with a family law team with a great reputation," said David. "There are challenging times ahead with ongoing reforms of Legal Aid and with an emphasis by the Courts to conclude cases more quickly and with greater judicial management.
"Wollen Michelmore is committed to Legal Aid and we are always looking to stay ahead of the many changes that come our way so that our clients continue to get the best service we can give them.
"I am grateful to my fellow partners at Wollen Michelmore for the chance to join them in helping steer the firm through change and challenge, so that we can be as successful as possible so we ensure that our clients' needs and wishes are met time and again."
Chris Hart , managing partner, said: "David has proven to be a great addition to our team and we are pleased to now welcome him as a partner.
