THE Torquay branch of the Royal British Legion presented one of its long-serving members with a special brooch and certificate.

Treasurer Ena Pethick (pictured) was honoured for her dedication to the Poppy Appeal at a meeting in Babbacombe.

County chairman Ralph Howard Williams presented Ena with her certificate and brooch for 30 years' service.

He said: "I am delighted to present this certificate in recognition of your dedicated and invaluable service to the Poppy Appeal over a period of more than 30 years. This is a richly deserved award for your exceptional work over a sustained period".

At the same meeting David Pritchard was also presented with the new branch chairman's pendant.

"I'll take great pride in wearing this for official occasions and will doubtless have mixed feelings when the time comes to hand it on to my successor," said David. The Torquay branch was congratulated for its 2013 appeal which has to-date raised over £39,000.
