A 24-YEAR-OLD man needed treatment in hospital after an alleged attack in Paignton.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident in Beach Road on Saturday, September 7.
At about 1.30am the victim, who was with a group of other people, was subjected to a beating by another male.
Detectives believe a weapon may have been used as the victim was left with cuts and slashes to his face.
He was taken to Torbay Hospital where he needed stitches to his wound.
Detectives say they believe the victim knew his attacker and are not treating it as a random stranger attack.
But they would like to hear from anybody who knows anything about the incident.

A 22-year-old local man has been arrested and bailed without charge by police on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm.
