A MOBILE shop has begun to serve small villages in the South Hams which have lost their shops.
The specially-designed vehicle is visiting Diptford, North Huish, Ermington and Ugborough twice a week to enable villagers to buy groceries on their doorsteps.
The service has been introduced by Avonwick Village Shop, run by Richard and Laura Cooper.
When the shop in the neighbouring village of Ugborough closed, the Coopers started a grocery delivery service for Ugborough residents.
The reaction was so positive, the Coopers decided to launch the mobile shop service.
It visits Ermington, North Huish and Ugborough on Mondays and Thursdays and Diptford on Tuesdays and Fridays.
More villages will be added to the list as the service establishes itself.
