A BRIXHAM model is celebrating success in glitzy pageant Miss Global 2013.
Jo Hill, 25, a former Brixham Community College and South Devon College student, came a close third in the competition held in Los Angeles.
Jo said: "It's been like a whirlwind, I'm so happy."
Jo competed against 36 girls from around the world for the final stage of the contest.
She said: "After the show, the media hit straight away as its a huge new pageant in America larger than Miss Universe.
"I will travel around the world with Miss Global representing the charity Global Angels with founder Molly Bedingfield, mum of entertainers Daniel and Natasha Bedingfield."
The first VIP red carpet banquet is due to be held in London in November and she is due to make an appearance in Vietnam for MTV and various visits to LA and Vegas.
Jo studied law at South Devon College before pursuing a career in dental nursing in Torquay.
But it was when she began travelling in Australia her modelling career really took off. She lives at Surfers Paradise in Queensland and is studying business and project management but is set to make a move to LA for her Miss Global work.
Jo said: "Starting from Brixham, travelling to Australia then competing in LA is a big change for me.
"I am now Miss Global Great Britain and its been an honour to represent my country."
Jo's dad Reg, a former Brixham coastguard, and step-mother Sharon still live in Brixham. Her older sister, Claire, is a midwife in Liverpool.
Proud Reg said: "Jo is doing ever so well and is set to travel around the world with the competition. It's fantastic for her."
