THE Environment Agency issued a new series of Flood Alerts on Monday afternoon as another band of heavy rain swept South Devon.

They said flooding was possible for Torbay, Totnes, Ashburton and Dartmouth from early on Tuesday morning.

The alerts also covered the Rivers Teign, Bovey, Lemon, Avon, Erme and Harbourne, coastal streams from Bigbury to Dartmouth and from Babbacombe to Kenton.

The alerts also covered the Kingsbridge, South Brent and Ivybridge areas.

About 30mm of rain was forecast overnight with some heavy bursts that could lead to totals of up to 50mm.

The EA said there was a potential of flooding from all watercourses as well as a risk of flooding from surface water run-off.
