A NEWTON ABBOT hair stylist has reached the pinnacle of his career after being selected to work at London Fashion Week.
Ward Blackshaw will be styling the hair of catwalk models and working alongside the world's top designers in the fashion industry.
The creative director, who works at DKN Hair3 in Budleigh Salterton, was nominated for the prestigious team by his boss.
"He was approached by our TIGI representative. He was asked if there was any of his staff he could put forward for the Inspirational Youth Team, but I couldn't be put into that as I'm 30," said Ward, who has been a stylist for more than ten years.
"So the rep suggested that I apply for the TIGI international session styling team, so I sent over the entry form  and filled out did a presentation DVD and got picked."
He'll be working with TIGI for the glamorous week, which is one of main four shows on the fashion calendar along with Paris, Milan and New York.
"I still can't believe I was selected, I had told myself I wasn't going to get in so when I got the phone call I was elated and didn't quite know who to tell first," said Ward.
He's had complete an intense preparation course ready for the week.
"It's been crazy I have been staying late in the salon and brushing up in my skill we also had a three day training course in TIGI's Bedhead studios in Battersea, London, which was amazing," said Ward.
"While there, I got to meet the other nine stylists that were selected. I was the only guy.
"We as a team could be doing up to 30 models for each designer and as of yet still don't know what designers we will be working with, which only adds to the excitement and anticipation."
