NEWTON ABBOT had three teams contesting Devon Cup finals at the Plymouth Life Centre on Sunday – and the club returned with the Under-15 title.
It was a tense and exciting game against Paignton that remained close until the final minutes.
Goalkeeper Thomas Manley performed exceptionally to fend off the opposition, while Eric Perkin (3), Ross Brown (3), Oliver White (2) and Haydn Woolley (1) grabbed the goals in Newton's 9-6 win.
There were strong performances across the board as Newton Abbot's U19s took on Barnstaple – but they fell just short – going down 20-17.
Newton's men's team took on Exeter which was a great experience for the younger players to watch with such a depth of experience on display and some fantastic play.
Although Newton played strongly in the final quarter, the game had moved from within reach as they went down 18-12.
Club spokesman Lucy Woolley said: "The atmosphere was electric, with a great sense of sportsmanship from all teams.
"Everyone played so well and it was just a good afternoon for the sport."
Newton Abbot Swimming Club's next major event is the annual presentation evening on Saturday, January 25, at Hannahs at Seale Hayne.
