WINNING a special one-off award in recognition of his contribution to the London Olympics was as good as getting to go to the games themselves for Jack Hazlewood.
A Youth Sports Trust Gold Ambassador, Hazlewood delivered special assemblies to schools across the Bay promoting awareness of the Olympics, and also volunteered at the 2012 Paralympic Games.
Hazlewood said having promoted the games, it was great that they lived up to the high expectations.
"In all fairness just being part of the Olympics was incredible – I got to meet some amazing athletes and see some of it first-hand," he said.
"It does all feel worthwhile, especially when you go there and it lives up to it.
"With all the talk and the hype, just to be able to say 'I was there' is great. But this is equally as good."
Also shortlisted was Jason Murphy.
