MP for Totnes, Dr Sarah Wollaston, cut the ribbon to open the new Marldon Hill Post Office.
As part of Post Office plans to modernise the network and extend opening hours for customers, Marldon Hill Post Office has recently been refurbished.
Subpostmaster Ian Park said: "I was delighted to have the opportunity to modernise the branch and am pleased to launch for the community. I hope our customers like it."
He added: "With Post Office products and services available from the retail till we are now able to give access to Post Office services any time the shop is open, seven days a week. We can now do car tax and have a free to use cash machine. Altogether, this will be a great help to busy customers."
Dr Sarah Wollaston, MP said: "I'm delighted to officially open the new Marldon Hill Post Office. Ian is to be congratulated on his work to develop the branch which will make a real difference for the community. I wish him continued success with his business."
Post Office regional manager, Laura Tarling, said: "We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in the area. I am confident that this new modern Post Office will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
She added "The modernisation is part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new-style branches and this investment, the largest in the history of the Post Office, makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes."
