A NEW swimming event will be taking place in Paignton on Saturday September 21.
The aim of the event, which starts at 4pm, is to celebrate the joys of swimming in Tor Bay.
Event spokesman Matt Newbury said: "The Paignton Pier to Pub Swim is an accessible swim perfect for those who haven’t been swimming for years, as well as those who take a dip on a more regular basis.
"The event is supporting the Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust and the important work they do protecting the marine environment of Torbay.
"There will be a choice of two routes (a half a mile swim and a slightly more challenging one mile swim around additional buoys) both taking participants from Paignton Pier to the Boathouse Pub.
"Shallow waters make this a very safe event and ideal for those who haven’t participated in a swim challenge before. The swims will not be timed and are very much for fun, providing great views of both Paignton and the colourful beach huts of Preston, as well as across the Bay to Torquay."
Entry is £15 per person and limited to 300 participants.
Your entry includes an event swim hat and a commemorative souvenir of the event.
The Boathouse will be hosting an after-party with a barbecue and live music and the chance to socialise with your fellow participants and spectators. The swim is kindly being supported by the Torbay Surf Lifesaving Club, Isca Canoe Club, Unit 7 LLP and Just Add Water Events.
